Patient centred care is more than just a slogan. It is a complete method of investigation, discussion and treatment. Ultimately the role of the Physiotherapist is to investigate, diagnosis, treat and provide options for the future. Your role is to tell your story, and provide feedback to you Physiotherapist, and ultimately reap the rewards of treatment.
In practice, as soon as possible all Patients of RFR will receive 4 things:
Understand the problem
It’s important for you to know what’s going on in your body, why it’s painful, and what will be done to fix the problem. Most Patients have a poor understanding of their body issues and/or scans because no-one takes the time to explain it. It’s an unfortunate reality that this is widespread in healthcare. The goal is that as a Patient of RFR you will understand what’s different with your body. What normal function looks like, and options on how you will get back there. You can’t make fully informed choices about your care if you aren’t fully aware.
Benefits that day
You need to feel better at the end of the session than you did at the start of the session. Whether this is walking out in less pain, or having greater knowledge and feeling more confident and empowered about your own body. The aim is to deliver results today.
A treatment plan
It’s unfortunately common that Patients don’t always know how they are progressing. They just turn up next week, tap their card and hope for the best. A treatment plan should give you a picture of what success looks like, and a plan to get there. And since the human body is so complex, if the results don’t happen, a pre determined contingency plan. Because if a treatment isn’t working, something has to change.
Knowing the costs

Time and money are important to everyone. Discussing costs with your healthcare provider has become taboo, however this is not a problem at RFR. We will give you an indication as to how many sessions getting better will take as soon as available. And if you aren’t the “perfect Patient” that can attend 3 sessions per week, this isn’t a problem. Any budget or logistical constraints can be worked with to give you a treatment plan and answers in a fashion that fits with you.
